Designed by award-winning architecture firm SO-IL, 144 Vanderbilt features a limited collection of 26 meticulously designed two- to four-bedroom residences. The building has an iconic precast silhouette in a distinctive pink color, striking terraces with Brooklyn and Manhattan views, and a wide variety of indoor and outdoor amenities. 144 Vanderbilt was conceived as an inventive reinterpretation of Brooklyn living through thoughtful, considered, and often playful architecture and design. From the exterior, the building’s composition evokes the form of a historical village, where components are stacked at different heights, angles and setbacks—with each residence articulated separately by these subtle shifts, and featuring oversized windows that frame vistas of Brooklyn, Fort Greene Park, Manhattan and beyond.
144 Vanderbilt is filled with greenery, making it a true oasis for residents. Its staggered design offers a variety of shared and private outdoor spaces, each distinct in size and function, to foster both collective activities and quiet respite. The lobby and amenity areas are surrounded by terraced gardens, creating a seamless flow between inside and out, while the stepped design allows natural light into the amenity-filled garden level. Across the building, multiple breaks in its envelope form terraces and breezeways that allow natural ventilation across the exterior hallways and enable a constant connection to the neighborhood from inside. Accessed via two elevators with enclosed landings, these shared spaces offer welcoming porches for the residences. The semi-outdoor corridors also create framed views along Myrtle and Vanderbilt Avenues where they meet the building’s perimeter.

Towards the back of 144 Vanderbilt, a meandering route leads down through a lush landscaped garden to the amenities, which all benefit from natural light. Communal breezeways on each level connect the elevators and stairwells to the residences, while offering lookouts over the lush gardens and out across the neighborhood.
On the sixth floor, a beautifully landscaped sky garden enjoys 270-degree, unobstructed panoramic views over the Brooklyn brownstone rooftops and across the East River to Manhattan. This unique terrace features walkways, gathering spaces and seating areas designed specifically for residents to entertain or relax.

From the street, residents traverse a bridge that leads over a Sunken Garden
into the partially attended Lobby. This inviting oasis opens up to full-height glass
that looks out onto lushly planted outdoor space.

On each floor, the elevator opens onto communal breezeways and balconies that run the length of the building, and culminate in framed views of the
neighborhood. These spacious corridors form extensions of the residences,
acting like the brownstone stoops typical of Fort Greene and Brooklyn.

Nestled between two landscaped gardens, the Coworking & Residents’ Lounge
provides 1,290 square feet of space for residents to work, lounge and receive
guests. Warm brick, polished concrete and low lighting lend this area a
contemporary aesthetic that make it ideal for immersion and tranquility.

This vibrant and fun space for kids is lined with soft, durable cork across walls,
floors and ceiling—providing a playful complement to the Lobby’s palette. The
room is visible across the Sunken Garden from the Fitness Center, so that adults

rubber flooring, plus views towards the Sunken Garden. The Fitness Center

Cascading Secret Garden is tucked away from the main amenity area so that it

drama to the entry sequence. This sunken courtyard is overlooked by the
Coworking & Residents’ Lounge, Fitness Center and the Children’s Playroom.
Sky Garden
A garden in the sky on the sixth floor offers a unique landscaped terrace high
above the surrounding brownstone rooftops, with panoramic views that stretch
from Downtown Brooklyn to the East River and Manhattan. Accessed via a
bridge, this beautifully landscaped garden features walkways, gathering spaces
and seating areas—all free from any mechanical equipment.
